Anubias Nana Petite Care

Anubias nana ‘petite’ is a very small, attractive, hardy plant that grows slowly and thrives in almost all conditions. Its leaves last for many years, allowing them to accumulate a layer of algae if desired. This is an excellent plant for tanks that are teeming aquatic life. The leaves are strong enough to resist being consumed by herbivorous fish.

Description

About Anubias Nana Petite

Anubias nana ‘Petite’ is rapidly becoming one of the most popular plants for nano tank and shrimp tank aquascaping. The most common Anubias nana petite care involves planting it on a tree, a root, or a stone, using fishing line or aquatic plant glue to secure the plant until it takes hold. If you plant it in the substrate, take care not to cover the rhizome, as it will rot. This plant is an excellent foreground option and is perfect for attaching to lava rocks or bogwood. When grown under water, the plant flowers.

Propagation

To propagate Anubias nana petite, slice the rhizome into two or more pieces, depending on the plant’s size. Ideally, it will have three leaves per rhizome. Snip the leaf and stem off of the rhizome, and allow it to float until it forms roots. When roots develop, tie the piece to the preferred surface, remembering not to let the roots become buried until the rhizome forms.
