Aqua Decor
Pre-designed decor for aquariums is a great option for tanks with fish and invertebrates that are hard on plants, i.e. eating tubers, sprouts, and tendrils while the vegetation is in the most tender state.
Upgrading a sandy aquarium floor with sparse, artificial decor to a thriving aquascape with a variety of water plant species can be difficult if the local fauna feeds on plants before they reach maturity. A better choice for the existing aquarium residents may be to provide a hardier decor option.
Natural Decor
Common types of natural decor for aquariums include stone, unique pieces of wood, and species of plants rooted on rich bogwood, smooth bankwood, or porous lava stone. This type of decor comes with developed root systems and with branches and leaves that have room to grow. Cultivated with transportation and resale in mind, most plants in these arrangements are exceptionally hardy and low-maintenance.
Avid aquascapers receive two benefits in a single package: a plant rooted on a naturally beautiful object that’s ready to drop in the aquarium, and a plant whose remaining growth can be guided with light sources, careful pruning, and other aquatic botany strategies.
