Echinodorus ‘Red Dіаmоnd’

Thought to be a cross between Echinodorus hоrеmаnnі “Red” and Eсhіnоdоruѕ “Bаrthіі”, Echinodorus ‘red diamond’ is a beautiful plant with red, sword-shaped leaves that turn green as they mature. In contrast to other Eсhіnоdоrus “sword” species, this plant grows to a moderate size, making it ideal as a solitary plant in tanks of all sizes.

Description

About Echinodorus ‘Red Diamond’

To increase and prolong the plant’s characteristic red hue, increase lighting. A nutrient-rich substrate will increase growth significantly. Due to its bold aesthetic and relatively small size, this plant can be used successfully as a solitary, focal plant, even in smaller tanks.

Propagation

To propagate Echinodorus ‘red diamond’, wait until it sends up flower stalks. Once the plant flowers, plantlets will form. When the plantlets are roughly two inches high, remove them from the stalk gently, and replant them. Large plants will usually form two rosettes at the base, which can be split and planted.
